Dr. Strickland is a Managing Director at TransKoto Inc. He specializes in using economic analysis to address damages and competition claims in complex commercial disputes, frequently involving patent infringement, trademark infringement, breach of contract, false advertising, business interruption and injunctions. He also provides advice on royalty and other terms in licensing negotiations and has assisted attorneys on behalf of global corporations.
Dr. Strickland has studied a variety of industries, including: semiconductors; personal computers, monitors and printers; mobile phones and tablets; internet software; ATMs; automotive parts; medical devices; pharmaceutical drugs; industrial and agricultural machinery; commercial real estate; soft drinks; infant formula; pet food; cosmetics; clothing and accessories, and food ingredients. Previous clients include TDK, Sharp, Yahoo!, NEC, Case, Nidek, Motorola, 3M, Scientific-Atlanta, Vonage, LG, Union Bank of California, Ford, Koito Manufacturing, Greatbatch Medical, Corning, Fujitsu and The American National Red Cross.
Many of his matters have involved global corporations and required the economic analysis of both U.S. and non-U.S. markets. He has, for example, studied the global personal computer, semiconductor and mobile phone industries, fast food franchising in Asia, and pharmaceutical packaging in Europe and the Middle East.
He has testified on competition and damages claims, including lost profits and reasonable royalty damages, before U.S. District Courts (Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, New York and Virginia), the American Arbitration Association (California, New York and Washington, D.C.), the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (England), and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (Texas).
Dr. Strickland has a doctorate in economics with a major in Industrial Organization and a minor in International Trade and Finance. He has taught economics at The George Washington University and The University of Delaware. He also worked in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as an economist with the U.S. Treasury Department.
